Consignments must meet the requirements of the Export Plan for fresh produce from Australia to New Zealand. The Export Plan is available through Micor Plants in the 'Documents' section. Access is restricted and requires a logon.

Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

Exporters may choose to use the following contaminant tolerances during phytosanitary inspection as referred to in the Import Health Standard 152.02. The permitted tolerances are for a 600-unit sample.

  • 25g of soil
  • 12 leaves
  • 8 regulated weed seeds

All zucchinis exported to New Zealand must:

Have been sourced from an approved Pest Free Place of Production for Cucumber green mottle mosaic virus (CGMMV) 

AND

 

Have had a measure applied for Thrips palmi (Melon thrips) of either:

  • in-field controls (at an accredited property);

OR

  • fumigation with methyl bromide at 32g/m3 for 2 hours at 21°C or above

 

AND

 

Have had one of the following measures applied for Bactrocera cucumis (Cucumber fruit fly) and Ceratitis capitata (Mediterranean fruit fly):

 

1. being sourced from a pest free area (Riverina, Sunraysia, Riverland, TAS);

 

OR

 

2. irradiation at a minimum dose of 150 Gy;


If irradiating for other regulated pests then treat the consignment by irradiation at a minimum dose of 400 Gy or 500 Gy.
 

AND

 

have had in-field controls for Cucumber fruit fly;

 

AND


 is from a pest free area for Mediterranean fruit fly (Ord River in WA, QLD, NSW, VIC, NT, TAS, SA).

 

Important: Growers are to register properties with the department and have their property confirmed as free from CGMMV based on state issued freedom certification. Property freedom from CGMMV must be confirmed by the department prior to exports being permitted. Information regarding registration can be obtained through contacting the Horticulture Exports Program at Horticultureexports@agriculture.gov.au.

Explanation of fruit fly pest free areas (PFAs)

The following areas are recognised as pest free areas for Queensland fruit fly (Bactrocera tryoni) and Mediterranean fruit fly (Ceratitis capitata):

  • Tasmania

AND

AND

  • the Ord River Irrigation area of Western Australia. Note: this is not a pest free area for Bactrocera spp. except B. tryoni.

Exporters sourcing fruit from the Riverland must present a State government certificate at the time of inspection which states all fruit was sourced from properties outside the suspension areas.

Exporters sourcing fruit from the Western Australia PFA must present a State government certificate at the time of inspection.

 

Explanation of the endorsements

Explanations of EXDOC endorsement(s), and a description of the documents required for each endorsement are detailed in the 'Documents' section of Micor.

Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

All treatments shall be carried out in accordance with the Export Plan.

Details of treatment to be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate in the treatment section.

Irradiation

  • at a minimum of 150Gy
  • at a minimum of 400Gy
  • at a minimum of 500 Gy

The treatment is to be shown on the Phytosanitary certificate as:

  • IRRADIATION AT MINIMUM 150 GRAY

OR

  • IRRADIATION AT MINIMUM 400 GRAY 

 OR

  • IRRADIATION AT MINIMUM 500 GRAY

For irradiated consignment – the treatment certificate is to accompany the consignment to New Zealand.

Fumigation.

Where zucchinis have not been subject to in-field control measures for Thrips palmi, the zucchinis must be

  • fumigated with methyl bromide at 32g/m3 for 2 hours at 21°C or above.

The treatment is to be shown on the phytosanitary certificate as:

  • FUMIGATED WITH METHYL BROMIDE AT 32GRM/M3 FOR 2 HOURS AT 21 DEGREES CELSIUS OR ABOVE


Reconditioning.

Reconditioning treatments with methyl bromide must be conducted in accordance with the Acceptance of offshore methyl bromide fumigation treatments, found in the documents section of Micor.

For reconditioning fumigation treatments to be recognised by New Zealand, they must be listed on the phytosanitary certificate in the treatment section using the EXDOC treatment code RE-CON.

It is at the exporter's discretion on whether or not to put a reconditioning treatment on the phytosanitary certificate.

1) The zucchinis in this consignment have been inspected in accordance with appropriate official procedures and found to be free from any visually detectable quarantine pests, specified by the New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries,
2) The zucchinis in this consignment have undergone appropriate pest control activities that are effective against those risk group 2 regulated pests specified by NZ MPI,
3) The zucchinis in this consignment have been managed using in-field controls for Thrips palmi,
4) The zucchinis in this consignment have been treated in accordance with Appendix 2 of the Arrangement between the Ministry for Primary Industries New Zealand and the Department of Agriculture concerning the access of host material of fruit fly species of economic significance into New Zealand from Australia.
5) The zucchinis in this consignment have been produced in a pest free place of production for Cucumber green mottle mosaic virus (CGMMV).

 Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 6806)
1) The zucchinis in this consignment have been inspected in accordance with appropriate official procedures and found to be free from any visually detectable quarantine pests, specified by the New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries,
