Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Consignments are to be packed in clean, new packages/bags not previously used for any purpose.


Cuttings must be dormant.

Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


All cuttings in the consignment are to be officially inspected and to be found free of any visually detectable regulated pests.

If visually detectable pests are found which are not listed in the MPI New Zealand import health standard, the pests regulatory status must be established prior to certification.

The number of cuttings in the consignment are to be declared on the phytosanitary certificate at all times.

All cuttings in the consignment must be clearly identified with their scientific name (genus and species).

Consignments are to be packed in clean, new packages/bags not previously used for any purpose.


Materials used to protect, package and ship whole plants and cuttings must be inert/synthetic only. 

Note: All Vitis vinefera nursery stock are subject to meet post entry quarantine requirements on arrival into New Zealand.
All cuttings must be treated for insects and mites as per Appendix 3 of the MPI Import Health Standard 155.02.06: Importation of Nursery Stock (published on the MPI web site).

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the department at time of authorisation.


Details of treatment to be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate in the treatment section.

1) TheVitis cuttings in this consignment have been sourced from mother plantswhich are at least 10 years old and have been inspected during the growingseason and are free from symptoms of Syrah decline.
2) The cuttings in this consignment have only been grown in, and exported from, the country of origin Australia, which is free from Xylella fastidiosa.
