Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Each type of cutting in the consignment must be clearly identified with its the scientific name (genus and species).

All cuttings in the consignment are to be officially inspected and to be found free of any visually detectable regulated pests.

If visually detectable pests are found which are not listed in the Biosecurity New Zealand import health standard, the pests regulatory status must be established prior to certification.

All cuttings must be treated for insects and mites as Appendix 3 of the Ministry of Primary Industries Standard 155.02.06: Importation of Nursery Stock (published on the MPI web site).

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Details of treatment to be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate in the treatment section.


If any required treatment is not completed within the prescribed period prior to export, these measures must be completed in New Zealand where such services are available, and by prior arrangement with MPI.

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 6230)
1) The plants were raised from seed/cuttings in soil-less rooting media in containers maintained out of contact with the soil.
2) The plants in this consignment have been produced in a pest free area where Tomato chlorotic dwarf viroid is not known to occur.
3) Rust diseases are not known to occur on Verbena plants/cuttings in Australia.
4) The plants have only been grown in, and exported from, the country of origin, Australia, which is free from Xylella fastidiosa.

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 6337)
1) The roots of the plants have been dipped in Fenamiphos at 1.6g a.i. per litre of water for 30 minutes
2) The plants have been produced in a pest free place of production where parent plants were tested by PCR and found free from Tomato chlorotic dwarf viroid.
3) Rust diseases are not known to occur on Verbena plants/cuttings in Australia.
4) The plants have only been grown in, and exported from, the country of origin, Australia, which is free from Xylella fastidiosa. 

Option 3 (EXDOC Endorsement 8434)
1) The plants were raised from seed/cuttings in soil-less rooting media in containers maintained out of contact with the soil.
2) The plants have been produced in a pest free place of production where parent plants were tested by PCR and found free from Tomato chlorotic dwarf viroid.
