Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.
Exporter to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and to present to the Agriculture Authorised Officer at time of inspection
The components of the salad mix must be listed on the phytosanitary certificate. The following vegetables are permitted entry into New Zealand as components of a salad mix:
- Basil (Ocimum basilicum)
- Calendula [flowers only] (Calendula officinalis)
- Chard Red (Beta vulgaris var. cicla)
- Chard Green (Beta vulgaris)
- Chard Rainbow (Beta vulgaris subsp cicla arcangeli)

- Chicory Radicchio (Cichorium var.)
- Chives (Allium schoenoprasum)
- Coriander (Coriandum sativum)
- Cress Supreme (Lepidium sativum)
- Cress Curley (Lepidium spp.)

- Lemon Balm (Cymbopogon citratus)
- Lettuce Green Cos (Lactuca sativa var. longifolia)

Note: Common names can vary between regions and are included as a guide only. The botanical names listed are to be used as the point of reference and that certified on the Phytosanitary certificate.
Consignments containing Basil, Lettuce or Parsley must meet the requirements of the Export Plan for fresh produce from Australia to New Zealand. The Export Plan is available through Micor Plants in the 'Documents' section. Access is restricted and requires a logon.
If the salad mix contains Basil, Lettuce or Parsley, the Basil, Lettuce or Parsley in the consignment must have had one of the following measures applied for Liriomyza huidobrensis and Liriomyza trifolii:
- undergone appropriate pest control activities that are effective against Liriomyza huidobrensis and Liriomyza trifolii
OR
- have been sourced from a pest free area for Liriomyza huidobrensis and Liriomyza trifolii;
Note: there are currently no recognised pest free areas for Liriomyza huidobrensis and Liriomyza trifolii.
OR
- irradiation at a minimum dose of 250 Gy
OR
- fumigation with methyl bromide at:
- 34g/m3 with 74.9 Ct (calculated on 54% retention rate) for 3 hours at 20°C or above;
- 40g/m3 with 88.2 Ct (calculated on 54% retention rate) for 3 hours at 15°C or above;
- 46g/m3 with 101.4 Ct (calculated on 54% retention rate) for 3 hours at 10°C or above.
The following details are only applicable if the salad mix contains Basil, Lettuce or Parsley.
Irradiation
- Irradiation at a minimum of 250 Gy
For irradiated product, the treatment is to be shown on the phytosanitary certificate as:
- IRRADIATION AT MINIMUM 250 GRAY;
For irradiated consignments – the treatment certificate is to accompany the consignment to New Zealand.
Fumigation
- Fumigation with methyl bromide at:
- 34g/m3 with 74.9 Ct (calculated on 54% retention rate) for 3 hours at 20°C or above;
- 40g/m3 with 88.2 Ct (calculated on 54% retention rate) for 3 hours at 15°C or above;
- 46g/m3 with 101.4 Ct (calculated on 54% retention rate) for 3 hours at 10°C or above.
The treatment is to be shown on the phytosanitary certificate as:
- FUMIGATED WITH METHYL BROMIDE AT 34GRM/M3 WITH 74.9 CT FOR 3 HOURS AT 20 DEGREES CELSIUS OR ABOVE
- FUMIGATED WITH METHYL BROMIDE AT 40GRM/M3 WITH 88.2 CT FOR 3 HOURS AT 15 DEGREES CELSIUS OR ABOVE
- FUMIGATED WITH METHYL BROMIDE AT 46GRM/M3 WITH 101.4 CT FOR 3 HOURS AT 10 DEGREES CELSIUS OR ABOVE
Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement No 1655)
1) The salad mix in this consignment has been inspected in accordance with appropriate official procedures and found to be free from any visually detectable quarantine pests, specified by the New Zealand Ministry of Primary Industry.
Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement No 7031)
1) The salad mix in this consignment has been inspected in accordance with appropriate official procedures and found to be free from any visually detectable quarantine pests, specified by the New Zealand Ministry of Primary Industry.
2) The basil in this consignment has been treated with Methyl Bromide for Liriomyza huidobrensis and Liriomyza trifolii.
Option 3 (EXDOC Endorsement No 7032)
1) The salad mix in this consignment has been inspected in accordance with appropriate official procedures and found to be free from any visually detectable quarantine pests, specified by the New Zealand Ministry of Primary Industry.
2) The basil in this consignment has been irradiated for Liriomyza huidobrensis and Liriomyza trifolii.
Option 4 (EXDOC Endorsement No 7033)
1) The salad mix in this consignment has been inspected in accordance with appropriate official procedures and found to be free from any visually detectable quarantine pests, specified by the New Zealand Ministry of Primary Industry.
2) The basil in this consignment has been sourced from an area free (verified by an official detection survey) of Liriomyza huidobrensis. and Liriomyza trifolii.
Option 5 (EXDOC Endorsement No 7034)
1) The salad mix in this consignment has been inspected in accordance with appropriate official procedures and found to be free from any visually detectable quarantine pests, specified by the New Zealand Ministry of Primary Industry.
2) The basil in this consignment has undergone appropriate pest control activities that are effective against Liriomyza huidobrensis and Liriomyza trifolii.
Option 6 (EXDOC Endorsement No 7035)
1) The salad mix in this consignment has been inspected in accordance with appropriate official procedures and found to be free from any visually detectable quarantine pests, specified by the New Zealand Ministry of Primary Industry.
2) The lettuce in this consignment has been treated with Methyl Bromide for Liriomyza huidobrensis and Liriomyza trifolii.
Option 7 (EXDOC Endorsement No 7036)
1) The salad mix in this consignment has been inspected in accordance with appropriate official procedures and found to be free from any visually detectable quarantine pests, specified by the New Zealand Ministry of Primary Industry.
2) The lettuce in this consignment has been irradiated for Liriomyza huidobrensis and Liriomyza trifolii.

1) The salad mix in this consignment has been inspected in accordance with appropriate official procedures and found to be free from any visually detectable quarantine pests, specified by the New Zealand Ministry of Primary Industry.
2) The parsley in this consignment has been irradiated for Liriomyza huidobrensis and Liriomyza trifolii.
