Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


All cuttings in the consignment are to be officially inspected and to be found free of any visually detectable regulated pests.

If visually detectable pests are found which are not listed in the Biosecurity New Zealand import health standard, the pests regulatory status must be established prior to certification.

Each type of cutting in the consignment must be clearly identified with its the scientific name (genus and species).

Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
The New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) recognises Australia as free from sudden oak death (Phytophthora ramorum). Evidence of freedom from sudden oak death is not required to be presented by the exporter.

All cuttings must be treated for insects and mites as Section 2.2.1.6 part B of the Ministry of Primary Industries Standard 155.02.06: Importation of Nursery Stock (published on the MPI web site).
The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Details of treatment to be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate in the treatment section.

If any required treatment is not completed within the prescribed period prior to export, these measures must be completed in New Zealand where such services are available, and by prior arrangement with MPI.

1) Gymnosporangium spp. is not known to occur on Photinia x fraseri in Australia,
2) The cuttings have been sourced from a "Pest free area", free from Sudden oak death (Phytophthora ramorum),
3) The cuttings have been dipped in propiconazole at the rate of 0.5g a.i. per litre of water, prior to export,
4) The plants have only been grown in, and exported from, the country of origin, Australia, which is free from Xylella fastidiosa.
