Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

ICR is applicable to the following genus;

  • Rhipsalidopsis gaertneri
  • Schlumbergera truncata
Imort permit is not required for the genus in this ICR list.

Each type of plant/cutting in the consignment must be clearly identified with its scientific name (genus and species).

Consignments are to be packed in clean, new packages/bags not previously used for any purpose.


Only inert/synthetic material may be used for the protection, packaging and shipping materials of the nursery stock.

All plants/cuttings in the consignment are to be officially inspected and to be found free of any visually detectable regulated pests.

If visually detectable pests are found which are not listed in the New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries Standard 155.02.06, the pest's regulatory status must be established prior to certification. This information is available in MPI's "Biosecurity Organisms Register for Imported Commodities" on the MPI website.

Consignments contaminated with soil shall be treated, reshipped or destroyed.

The genus are listed in the MPI Plants Biosecurity Index (PBI) and Level 2 (Basic) conditions are applicable.

All cuttings must be treated for insects and mites as Section 2.2.1.6 (b) of the Ministry of Primary Industries Standard 155.02.06: Importation of Nursery Stock (published on the MPI web site).

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Details of treatment to be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate in the treatment section.

If any required treatment is not completed within the prescribed period prior to export, these measures must be completed in New Zealand where such services are available, and by prior arrangement with MPI.
