A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

An Import permit is NOT required for consignment certified under Endorsement 1029

An Import permit IS required for consignment certified under Endorsement 937

Consignments unable to be certified for Tobacco blue mould (Peronospora tabacina) maybe imported with an Import Permit and will be subject to Post Entry Quarantine upon arrival.

Such consignments are to be issued with a Phytosanitary certificate endorsed with No Additonal Declaration.
The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Consignments certified under Endorsement 937 may be treated prior to export with one of the following fungicide combinations:

  • (i) metalaxyl at 0.7g a.i. per kg seed and captan at 0.7g a.i. per kg seed;
OR
  • (ii) metalaxyl at 0.7g a.i. per kg seed and thiram at 1g a.i. per kg seed.

Alternatively, consignments maybe exported without treatment.

These consignments will be subject to treatment upon arrival at a MAF NZ approved Seed Testing Station.

Seed for sowing that does not meet the requirements of the NZ Ministry for Primary Industries import health standard will not be given clearance on arrival in New Zealand.

Seed requiring treatment may be imported into New Zealand untreated but will not be given clearance until an approved treatment has been applied.

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 937)
1) The crop was inspected during active growth and found free from Tobacco blue mould (Peronospora tabacini).

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 1029)
1) Tobacco blue mould (Peronospora tabacina) is known not to occur in the state of production.
