This Micor case is applicable to the following species;

  • Magnolia grandiflora
  • Magnolia laevifolia
Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.
A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
Consignments are to be packed in clean, new packages/bags not previously used for any purpose.

Each type of plant in the consignment must be clearly identified with its scientific name (genus and species).

Plants must be bare rooted.

All plants in the consignment are to be officially inspected and to be found free of any visually detectable regulated pests.

If visually detectable pests are found which are not listed in the Ministry of Primary Industries import health standard, the pests regulatory status must be established prior to certification. This information is available in MPIs Biosecurity Organisms Register for Imported Commodities on their web page.

The New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) recognises Australia as free from sudden oak death (Phytophthora ramorum). Evidence of freedom from sudden oak death is not required to be presented by the exporter.
 

All plants must be treated for insects and mites as Section 1.10.6 and Appendix 3 of the Ministry of Primary Industries Standard 155.02.06: Importation of Nursery Stock (published on the MPI web site).

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
Details of treatment to be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate in the treatment section.

Evidence of treatment required:

  • Treatment for insects and mites (as per Section 1.10.6 and Appendix 3 of IHS)


Explanation of endorsements

Endorsement 6855 and 8488:

  • Applies to plants raised in soil-less media.


Endorsement 6856 and 8489:

  • Applies to plants raised in media containing soil.

    If any required treatment is not completed within the prescribed period prior to export, these measures must be completed in New Zealand where such services are available, and by prior arrangement with MPI.

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 6855)
1) The plants were raised from seed/cuttings in soil-less rooting media in containers maintained out of contact with the soil.
2) The plants in this consignment were produced in a pest free area for Phytophthora palmivora.
3) The plants have been sourced from a "Pest free area", free from Phytophthora ramorum.
4) The plants have only been grown in, and exported from, the country of origin, Australia, which is free from Xylella fastidiosa.

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 6856)

1) The roots of the plants have been dipped in Fenamiphos at 1.6g a.i. per litre of water for 30 minutes.
2) The plants in this consignment were produced in a pest free area for Phytophthora palmivora.
3) The plants have been sourced from a "Pest free area", free from Phytophthora ramorum.
4) The plants have only been grown in, and exported from, the country of origin, Australia, which is free from Xylella fastidiosa.

Option 3 (EXDOC Endorsement 8488)
1) The plants were raised from seed/cuttings in soil-less rooting media in containers maintained out of contact with the soil.
2) The Magnolia plants in this consignment were produced in a ‘pest free place of production’ for Phytophthora palmivora.
3) The plants have been sourced from a "Pest free area", free from Phytophthora ramorum.
4) The plants have only been grown in, and exported from, the country of origin, Australia, which is free from Xylella fastidiosa.

Option 4 (EXDOC Endorsement 8489)
