Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


For seed listed in the Plant Department of Agriculture Indexas “Basic” can be exported with or without a Phytosanitary certificate.

Option 1: Seed with a Phytosanitary certificate


For consignments certified in Australia and issuedwith a phytosanitary certificate:
- inspected in accordance with official procedure and found free of visuallydetectable New Zealand’s regulated pests, and confirms to New Zealand’s importrequirements..



Option 2: Seed without a Phytosanitary certificate

On arrival in New Zealand the consignment orsamples, drawn in accordance with approved sampling rules, are to be inspectedby a Authorised Officer at the importer's expense.


Note: The import conditionsare applicable only to seeds for sowing listed in the Plant Department of Agriculture Indexas “Basic” and no import conditions are available under the Import HealthStandards: 155.02.05 Import of Seeds for Sowing.
