This Micor case is applicable to Hydrangea macrophylla and Hydrangea paniculata plants. 

Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.
A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
Consignments are to be packed in clean, new packages/bags not previously used for any purpose.

All plants in the consignment are to be officially inspected and to be found free of any visually detectable regulated pests.

Plants must be bare rooted.

Each type of plant in the consignment must be clearly identified with its scientific name (genus and species).

Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Only inert/synthetic material may be used for the protection, packaging and shipping materials of the nursery stock.

New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries recognises Australia as free from Phytophthora ramorum. Evidence of freedom from Phytophthora ramorum is not required to be presented by the exporter.

If visually detectable pests are found which are not listed in the New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries Standard 155.02.06, the pest's regulatory status must be established prior to certification. This information is available in MPI "Biosecurity Organisms Register for Imported Commodities" on their web page.

All plants must be treated for insects and mites as Section 1.10.6 and Appendix 3 of the Ministry of Primary Industries Standard 155.02.06: Importation of Nursery Stock (published on the MPI web site).

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
Details of treatment to be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate in the treatment section.

  • Treatment for insects and mites (as per Section 1.10.6 and Appendix 3 of IHS)

Endorsement 3488:

  • Applies to plants raised in soil-less media 

Endorsement 3487:

  • Applies to plants raised in media containing soil 

Note: If any required treatment is not completed within the prescribed period prior to export, these measures must be completed in New Zealand where such services are available, and by prior arrangement with MPI.

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 3487)
1) The plants have only been grown in, and exported from, the country of origin, Australia, which is free from Xylella fastidiosa.
2) The plants have been sourced from a "Pest free area", free from Phytophthora ramorum.
3) The roots of the plants have been dipped in Fenamiphos at 1.6g a.i. per litre of water for 30 minutes.
4) The Hydrangea plants were grown at a production site where there is monitoring and control against vectors of Candidatus phytoplasma solani.
5) The Hydrangea plants were inspected at the production site during the growing season and found to be free from Candidatus phytoplasma solani.

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 3488)
1) The plants have only been grown in, and exported from, the country of origin, Australia, which is free from Xylella fastidiosa.
2) The plants have been sourced from a "Pest free area", free from Phytophthora ramorum.
3) The plants were raised from seed/cuttings in soil-less rooting media in containers maintained out of contact with the soil.
4) The Hydrangea plants were grown at a production site where there is monitoring and control against vectors of Candidatus phytoplasma solani.
5) The Hydrangea plants were inspected at the production site during the growing season and found to be free from Candidatus phytoplasma solani.
