Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

The ICR applies to:
  • Coffea arabica
  • Coffea canephora

Prior to export, the goods must be treated with one of the following treatment methods:

Fumigation with methyl bromide at:

  • 48 grm/m3 for 24 hours at 10-15 degrees Celsius;

Note: 

For every 5 degrees Celsius increase in temperature the rate of methyl bromide can be decreased by 8grm/m3.


OR

Fumigation with phosphine at:

  • 2 grm/m3 for 12 days at 16-20 degrees Celsius;
OR

  • 2 grm/m3 for 9 days at 21-25 degrees Celsius;

OR

  • 2 grm/m3 for 5 days at 26 degrees Celsius or above;

OR

  • Treatment with 35% CO2 at 15 degrees Celsius for 15 days;
The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
