Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Each type of plant in the consignment must be clearly identified with its scientific name (genus and species).

Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

All plants in the consignment are to be officially inspected and to be found free of any visually detectable regulated pests.

If visually detectable pests are found which are not listed in the New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries Standard 155.02.06, the pest's regulatory status must be established prior to certification. This information is available in MPI's "Biosecurity Organisms Register for Imported Commodities" on the MPI website.

Note: 

Australia is recognised by MPI as free of Phytophthora ramorum. 

Explanation of the endorsement
  • For plants raised in soil-less rooting media and sourced from pest free area of Ralstonia pseudosolanacearum, endorsement 7174 is applicable.
  • For plants raised in media with soil and sourced from a 'pest free place of production' of Ralstonia pseudosolanacearum, endorsement 7175 is applicable.
Note: Exporter to provide a declaration attesting to the soil-less rooting media requirements.

All plants must be treated for insects and mites as Section 2.2.1.6 (b) of the New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries Standard 155.02.06: Importation of Nursery Stock (published on the MPI website).

Additional treatment for plants which have been raised in media containing soil must have the roots of the plants dipped in Fenamiphos at 1.6g a.i. per litre of water for 30 minutes.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Details of treatment to be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate in the treatment section.

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 7174)
1) The plants were raised from seed/cuttings in soil-less rooting media in containers maintained out of contact with the soil.
2) The plants have been sourced from a 'pest free area', free from Phytophthora ramorum. 

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 7175)
1) The roots of the plants have been dipped in fenamiphos at 1.6g a.i. per litre of water for 30 minutes.
2) The plants have been sourced from a 'pest free area', free from Phytophthora ramorum.
