Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

This ICR only applies to:

  • Carex glauca
  • Carex oshimensis

Consignments are to be packed in clean, new packages/bags not previously used for any purpose.

Each type of plant in the consignment must be clearly identified with its scientific name (genus and species).

Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

All plants in the consignment are to be officially inspected and to be found free of any visually detectable regulated pests.

If visually detectable pests are found which are not listed in the New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries Standard 155.02.06, the pest's regulatory status must be established prior to certification. This information is available in MPI's “Biosecurity Organisms Register for Imported Commodities" on the MPI website.

Explanation of the endorsements:

  • For plants raised in soil-less rooting media, endorsement 1917 is applicable.
  • For plants raised in media with soil, endorsement 1955 is applicable.

Note:
Exporter to provide a declaration attesting to the soil-less rooting media requirements.

All plants must be treated for insects and mites as Section 2.2.1.6 (b) of the New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries Standard 155.02.06: Importation of Nursery Stock (published on the MPI website).

Additional treatment for plants which have been raised in media containing soil must have the roots of the plants dipped in Fenamiphos at 1.6g a.i. per litre of water for 30 minutes.

Details of treatment to be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate in the treatment section.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 1917)

1) The plants were raised from seed/cuttings in soil-less rooting media in containers maintained out of contact with the soil.
2) The plants in this consignment have only been grown in, and exported from, the country of origin, Australia, which is free from Xylella fastidiosa.

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 1955)

1) The roots of the plants have been dipped in fenamiphos at 1.6g a.i. per litre of water for 30 minutes.
2) The plants in this consignment have only been grown in, and exported from, the country of origin, Australia, which is free from Xylella fastidiosa.
