This Micor case applies to all Camellia japonica hybrids and cultivars.

Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.
A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Note: All visible flower buds are to be removed prior to export.

All plants in the consignment are to be officially inspected and to be found free of any visually detectable regulated pests.

Each type of plant in the consignment must be clearly identified with its scientific name (genus and species).

Only inert/synthetic material may be used for the protection, packaging and shipping materials of the nursery stock.

If visually detectable pests are found which are not listed in the New Zealand Ministry for Primary Industries Standard 155.02.06, the pest's regulatory status must be established prior to certification. This information is available in MPI "Biosecurity Organisms Register for Imported Commodities" on their web page.

All plants must be treated for insects and mites as Section 1.10.6 and Appendix 3 of the Ministry of Primary Industries Standard 155.02.06: Importation of Nursery Stock (published on the MPI web site).

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Details of treatment to be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate in the treatment section.

All plants and cuttings must be dipped in prochloraz at the rate of 0.5g a.i. per litre of water.

Note: 

  • New Zealand (NZ) MPI does not recognise New South Wales (NSW) or Queensland (QLD) as free from Phellinus noxius. Please contact the Horticulture Exports Program (HorticultureExports@aff.gov.au) if the origin of the plants is not listed in the endorsement. 

  • Plants originating from NSW and QLD can only use Endorsement Option AAAA - Soil-less media pathway.

Explanation of endorsements:

Endorsement 8486:

  • Applies to plants raised in soil-less media 

Endorsement 8487:

  • Applies to plants raised in media containing soil 

Evidence required:

  • Treatment for insects and mites
  • Dipping of plants in prochloraz 

If any required treatment is not completed within the prescribed period prior to export, these measures must be completed in New Zealand where such services are available, and by prior arrangement with MPI. 

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 8486)
1) The plants have been sourced from a "Pest free area", free from Sudden oak death (Phytophthora ramorum).
2) The plants were raised from seed/cuttings in soil-less rooting media in containers maintained out of contact with the soil.
3) The plants have been dipped in prochloraz at the rate of 0.5g a.i. per litre of water.

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 8487)
1) The plants have been sourced from a "Pest free area", free from sudden oak death (Phytophthora ramorum).
2) The roots of the plants have been dipped in Fenamiphos at 1.6g a.i. per litre of water for 30 minutes.
3) The plants have been dipped in prochloraz at the rate of 0.5g a.i. per litre of water.
4) The plants have been produced in a ‘pest free area’, Victoria, free from Phellinus noxius.
