Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
Consignments are to be packed in clean, new packages/bags not previously used for any purpose.


Each package must be clearly labelled with the botanical name (genus and species).

Packages must be free of litter, soil, leaves, compost or any other prohibited organic material

Consignment must be accompanied by a supplier's declaration stating seeds are non-genetically modified organisms.
If unable to certify Area Freedom from Corn smut (Ustilago maydis) and Head smut of corn (Sphacelotheca reiliana), the consignment is to be treated with Fungicide Carboxin and Thiram at recommended manufacturers requirements and Endorsement 692 applies.

Refer to the import permit to determine where an insecticide treatment is required.

If stated on the import permit, then consignments are to be treated with insecticide by dipping, dusting or fumigation at recommended manufacturers requirements.

If not stated on the import permit, then no insecticide treatment is required to be applied or endorsed on the Phytosanitary certificate.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 5399)
1) Stewart's diseases (Erwinia stewartii and Pantoea stewartii), Sorghum downy mildew (Peronosclerospora sorghi), Sugarcane downy mildew (Peronosclerospora sacchari), Maize downy mildew (Peronosclerospora maydis) and Philippine downy mildew (Peronosclerospora philippinensis) are not known to occur in Australia,
2) Corn smut (Ustilago maydis) and Head smut of corn (Sphacelotheca reiliana) are known not to occur in the area of production.

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 692)
