A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Consignments are to be packed in clean, new packages/bags not previously used for any purpose.


Seeds must be husked.

Explanation of the endorsements

Endorsements 646, 656 and 6493:
  • These endorsements can only be used for consignments of Australia origin.
  • The pests listed in these endorsements are not present in Australia. No evidence is required to endorse freedom from these pests.
No endorsement:
  • Some import permits for products not of Australian origin may offer treatment in lieu of an additional declaration. Please contact the Grain and Seed Export Program (Grain.Export@aff.gov.au) if your import permit requires treatment to be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate. .
Refer to the import permit for the appropriate endorsement.
Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 646)
1) Downy mildew of sunflower (Plasmopara halstedii) is not known to occur in Australia.

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 656)
1) Greater grain borer (Prostephanus truncatus) and Khapra beetle (Trogoderma granarium) are not known to occur in Australia.

Option 3 (EXDOC Endorsement 6493)
1) Larger grain borer (Prostephanus truncatus), Khapra beetle (Trogoderma granarium) and Downy mildew of sunflower (Plasmopara halstedii) are not known to occur in Australia.
