Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds, extraneous material, fruits, litter, leaves, compost and any other prohibited organic material.
If required by the import permit, consignments are to be accompanied by a supplier's declaration stating that the plants are not genetically modified organisms.
The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and to present to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
Each plant must be clearly and individually labelled with the genus and species name.
Soil is not permitted.
Options for media
Option 1:
Plants are bare rooted and thoroughly cleaned.
Option 2:
Plants are exported in an authorised transport support medium (0.5-0.6 L maximum), new and non-adhesive to the root system. Authorised transport support media include: charcoal, wooden baskets, cork beads, sawdust, rockwool, perlite, vermiculite, pure peat, clay beads (expanded or fired), ground coconut shell, pumice, recycled paper, sphagnum moss and coconut fibre. These products must not contain seeds, soil, undecomposed foreign plant or animal material.
Option 3:
Young plants are set in square cups (9 cm X 9 cm maximum, corresponding to 0.6 L of medium) or in round pots of 10.5 cm maximum diameter (corresponding to 0.5 L of medium). An insecticide and a nematicide treatment must be applied to the culture media.
Option 4:
Young plants are set in square cups (9 cm X 9 cm maximum, corresponding to 0.6 L of medium) or in round pots of 10.5 cm maximum diameter (corresponding to 0.5 L of medium). An insecticide treatment must be applied to the growing medium. Plants must be grown in a greenhouse on raised shelves to avoid contact with the ground. Laboratory analyses of samples of growing medium and roots must be made at least twice a year to confirm the absence of nematodes. Results of the analysis must not be older than six months, and results must be included with the phytosanitary certificate at the time of import.
