Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Consignments are to be packed in clean, new packaging and clearly labelled with the botanical name including genus and species.

Packages must be free of litter, soil, leaves, compost or any other prohibited organic material.

Consignments must be accompanied with a purity certificate indicating that the consignment does not contain more than 3% of seeds from prohibited species and 15% of inert matter. 

Consignments must be accompanied with a statement from the exporter that the consignment of Pennisetum glaucum seeds are not Genetically Modified.
Consignments are to be treated with an approved insecticide and fungicide at recommended manufacturer's requirements.

Note: fungicide treatment is only required for seed exported in commercial packaging of greater than 100g per packet.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Treatment is only to be certified on Phytosanitary certificates where the import permit specifically states this requirement. Import permits sighted in which there is no specific treatment details are to be issued with a phytosanitary certificate with no treatment details.
