Fruit sourced from a non–fruit fly pest free area must be treated against fruit flies either by cold or fumigation treatment. Endorsement 1684 applies if fruit is treated.
Cold treatment
Cold treatment must be performed on-shore in Australia. The applicable rates are:
- at or below 0.00 degrees Celsius for 13 days;
OR
- at or below 0.55 degrees Celsius for 14 days;
OR
- at or below 1.11 degrees Celsius for 18 days;
OR
- at or below 1.66 degrees Celsius for 20 days;
OR
- at or below 2.22 degrees Celsius for 22 days.
Methyl bromide fumigation
Methyl bromide fumigation must be conducted in Australia prior to export. Treatment is to occur at the following rates, or an equivalent rate:
- at 32 grm/m3 at 21 degrees Celsius for 4 hours;
OR
- at 32 grm/m3 at 21 degrees Celsius for 2 hours plus 7 days cold storage at 7.2 degrees Celsius.
2) Mediterranean fruit fly (Ceratitis capitata) and other fruits flies of economic importance to New Caledonia are known not to occur in the area of production,
