Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Consignments are to be packed in clean, new packages/bags not previously used for any purpose.


Consignment must be attached with exporter's declaration stating that "seeds are non-genetically modified organisms" when specified on the import permit.

Consignments must be accompanied with a purity certificate indicating that the consignment does not contain more than 3% of seeds from prohibited species and 15% of the inert matter.

Note:
  • Import permits may specify that the commodity to be imported is Panicum maximum. Panicum maximum is a synonym of Megathyrsus maximus.
Consignments presented in commercial packaging greater than 100 grams per unit are to be treated with an appropriate fungicide at recommended manufacturer's requirements.

Non-commercial consignments are to be treated prior to export with an insecticide and fungicide at recommended manufacturer's requirements.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
