Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Packages must be free of litter, soil, leaves, compost or any other prohibited organic material.

Import permits may require products to be packed in hermetically sealed commercial packaging of more than 1 kg.

For consignments not of Australian origin, the country of origin is to be endorsed in the additional product description. Contact EXDOC Plant Programs at EXDOCPlantPrograms@aff.gov.au to enable this field.

Explanation of the endorsements
Endorsement 656:
  • Greater grain borer (Prostephanus truncatus) and Khapra beetle (Trogoderma granarium) are not present in Australia. No evidence is required to endorse freedom from these pests.
  • This endorsement can only be used for consignments of Australia origin.
  • If this endorsement is used, no consignment treatment is required.
Nil Endorsement:
  • Nil Endorsement to be used for consignments not of Australia origin.
  • Products not of Australian origin may require treatment for Greater grain borer (Prostephanus truncatus) and Khapra beetle (Trogoderma granarium) as per New Caledonia's requirement. Please contact the Grain and Seed Export Program (Grain.Export@aff.gov.au) if your import permit requires treatment to be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate.

1) Greater grain borer (Prostephanus truncatus) and Khapra beetle (Trogoderma granarium) are not known to occur in Australia.
