Explanation of the endorsements

These endorsements only apply if required by the import permit.

Endorsement 8316:

The below pest is not present in Australia, no evidence needs to be cited to endorse freedom:
  • Faba bean necrotic yellows virus (Nanovirus necroflaviviciae)
The below are not known to occur on the seed export pathway, no evidence needs to be cited to endorse freedom:
  • Soybean dwarf virus (Luteovirus glycinis)
  • Rhizobium rhizogenes
  • Beet western yellow virus (Polerovirus TUYV)
Visual inspection by the Authorised Officer is sufficient to endorse freedom from:
  • Rice weevil (Sitophilus oryzae)
  • Yellow mealworm beetle (Tenebrio molitor)
  • Bean weevil (Bruchus lentis)
  • Weevil (Bruchus ervi)
Laboratory analysis report is to be presented as evidence to endorse freedom from the below:
  • Ascochyta blight (Didymella lentis)

Endorsement 8419:

Laboratory analysis report is to be presented as evidence to endorse freedom from the below:

  • Ascochyta blight (Didymella lentis) , Stem and bulb nematode (Ditylenchus dipsaci), and Bean yellow mosaic virus.
Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

If the import permit does not state that an additional declaration for specific pests is required, a phytosanitary certificate with nil endorsement is to be issued.

Note: Nepal's National Plant Protection Organisation (NPPO) notified that import permits issued by the Department of Food Technology and Quality Control do not comply with the phytosanitary procedures for importing plant and plant products into Nepal. Import permits must be obtained from the Plant Protection Directorate that contains phytosanitary import requirements. Note that import permits may use a QR code instead of a signature - this can still be accepted for authorisation

If required, consignments are to be fumigated against insects of the Bruchid family and Callosobruchus maculatus with methyl bromide at:

  • 32 grm/m3 for 24 hours at 21 degrees Celsius or above.
Details of treatment to be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate in the treatment section.
The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 8316)
1) Faba bean necrotic yellows virus (Nanovirus necroflaviviciae) is not known to occur in Australia.
2) The consignment was found free through official testing and inspection procedure of Rice weevil (Sitophilus oryzae), Yellow mealworm Beetle (Tenebrio molitor), Bean weevil (Bruchus lentis), Weevil (Bruchus ervi), Soybean dwarf virus (Luteovirus glycinis), Rhizobium rhizogenes , Beet western yellows virus (Polerovirus TUYV) and Ascochyta blight (Didymella lentis). 

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 8419)

1) A representative sample was inspected and found to be free from Ascochyta blight (Didymella lentis) , Stem and bulb nematode (Ditylenchus dipsaci), and Bean yellow mosaic virus (Potyvirus phaseoluteum).

Import permit dated 3 March 2022, 28 November 2025 and 29 April 2026.
