Original and certified translation of the import permit must be presented to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Explanation of fruit fly pest free areas (PFAs)

The following areas are recognised as pest free areas for Queensland fruit fly (Bactrocera tryoni) and Mediterranean fruit fly (Ceratitis capitata):

  •              Tasmania
AND
Exporters sourcing fruit from the Riverland must present a State government certificate at the time of inspection which states all fruit was sourced from properties outside the suspension areas.

Fruit sourced from these areas are not required to undergo treatment.

Explanation of the endorsements:

Endorsement 5441:
Applies to fruit that originates from Tasmania and/or the Riverland (excluding suspension area/s).

Endorsement 5442:
Applies to fruit which has been subject to treatment.
Consignments sourced from outside Tasmania or the Riverland district must undergo an appropriate treatment for Queensland fruit fly (Bactrocera tryoni) and Mediterranean fruit fly (Ceratitis capiata) before export. 

Product sourced from fruit fly pest free areas that are under outbreak must undergo treatment.

Methyl bromide fumigation:

  • 32 grm/m3 at ≥21 degrees Celsius for 4 hours.

Cold treatment (only conducted onshore in Australia prior to export):
 
  • 1.11 degrees Celsius for 14 days;

OR

  • 1.67 degrees Celsius for 16 days;

OR

  • 2.22 degrees Celsius for 18 days.

Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 5441)
1) The fruit in this consignment was produced in Tasmania or the Riverland which are recognised as free from Queensland fruit fly (Bactrocera tryoni) and Mediterranean fruit fly (Ceratitis capitata),
2) A representative sample was inspected and found free of Queensland fruit fly (Bactrocera tryoni), Mediterranean fruit fly (Ceratitis capitata) and Light brown apple moth (Epiphyas postvittana).

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 5442)
1) The consignment has been treated with an appropriate disinfestation treatment for Mediterranean fruit fly (Ceratitis capitata) and Queensland fruit fly (Bactrocera tryoni),
2) A representative sample was inspected and found free of Queensland fruit fly (Bactrocera tryoni), Mediterranean fruit fly (Ceratitis capitata) and Light brown apple moth (Epiphyas postvittana).
