If an import permit (import authorisation) is issued, a copy of the import permit and an English translation must be presented to the Authorised Officer at the time of making an appointment for inspection.
Consignments are to be free from the quarantine pests listed in Annex II of the Order No 593-17 dated August 2017.
Review of this order for Medicago sativa seed for sowing requires freedom from a range of insects pests. Following may be used to endorse freedom from these pests:
- Insects and mites – Visual inspection of a representative sample by an authorised officer
- Lab analysis certificate, crop inspection report or area of production freedom for Stem and bulb nematode (Ditylenchus dipsaci) and Bacterial wilt (Clavibacter michiganensis subsp. Insidious).
- Other pests were found to be not on export pathway for Medicago sativa seed (Richardsons 1994) or not known to occur in Australia.
The consignment must be exported within 14 days of inspection and a phytosanitary certificate must be issued within 14 days of the consignment being exported from Australia.

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 6129)
1) The lucerne seeds comply with the requirements of Chapter II: ART. 14. II of decree No. 593-17 of 15 kaada 1438 (8 August 2017) relating to the sanitary inspection of plants, plant products and other items of import.
2) The seeds are free from Stem and bulb nematode (Ditylenchus dipsaci) and Bacterial wilt of Alfalfa (Clavibacter michiganensis subsp insidiosus).
