Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
Consignments are to be fumigated prior to export with either:

  • Methyl bromide at 32 grm/m3 for 24 hours at 30 degrees Celsius (under Normal Atmospheric Pressure);
OR
  • Methyl bromide at 48 grm/m3 for 24 hours at 21 degrees Celsius (under Normal Atmospheric Pressure);
OR
  • Methyl bromide at 56 grm/m3 for 24 hours at 16-20 degrees Celsius (under Normal Atmospheric Pressure);
OR
  • Methyl bromide at 64 grm/m3 for 24 hours at 11-15 degrees Celsius (under Normal Atmospheric Pressure);
OR
  • Methyl bromide at 72 grm/m3 for 24 hours at 10 degrees Celsius (under Normal Atmospheric Pressure);
OR
  • Phostoxin at 1.5grm/m3 for 7 days at 19 degrees Celsius or above.


The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Alternatively, if treatment is not endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate, the exporter must ensure that the fumigation certificate accompanies the consignment. In such situations, the phytosanitary certificate will be endorsed without treatment details.
