Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Dwarf bunt (Tilletia controversa) is not known to occur in Australia, this may be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate without citing supporting evidence.

A laboratory test report must be presented for endorsing freedom from Barley Stripe Mosaic Virus (BSMV).

A representative sample must be inspected by the Authorised Officer and be found free of ergot (Claviceps purpurea).

A crop inspection report, laboratory analysis report or area freedom certificate must be presented endorsing freedom from Loose smut of barley (Ustilago nuda) and Loose smut of oats (Ustilago avenae).
Consignments are to be treated with suitable fungicide/insecticide at recommended manufacturers requirements.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
