Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


The seeds must not be packed or rooted in earth, leaf or garden mould, compost or farmyard manure of any description, or packed in straw or unsterilised sphagnum moss.

Explanation of the endorsements

Endorsement 6471:
  • Melon fusarium wilt (Fusarium oxysporum f sp melonis) is not known to occur in Australia. No supporting evidence is required to endorse freedom from this pest.
  • An area freedom certificate, a crop inspection report or a laboratory analysis certificate must be provided as evidence of freedom from Cucurbit angular leaf spot (Pseudomonas syringae pv lachrymans), Bacterial leaf blight of tomato (Pseudomonas viridiflava), Squash mosaic virus, Fusarium wilt of cucumber (Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. cucumerinum), Cucumber green mottle mosaic virus (CGMMV) and Bacterial blotch in melons (Acidovorax avenae subsp citrulli).

Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Seed health testing will be carried out on arrival.
Consignments are to be treated with an appropriate broad spectrum insecticide/fungicide at recommended manufacturers' requirements.

1) Melon fusarium wilt (Fusarium oxysporum f sp melonis) is not known to occur in Australia.

2) The consignment was found free through official testing and inspection procedure of Cucurbit angular leaf spot (Pseudomonas syringae pv lachrymans), Bacterial leaf blight of tomato (Pseudomonas viridiflava), Squash mosaic virus, Fusarium wilt of cucumber (Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. cucumerinum), Cucumber green mottle mosaic virus (CGMMV) and Bacterial blotch in melons (Acidovorax avenae subsp citrulli).
