Import conditions are for air freight consignments to Mauritius.

A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Explanation of fruit fly pest free areas (PFAs)

The following areas are recognised as pest free areas for Queensland fruit fly (Bactrocera tryoni) and Mediterranean fruit fly (Ceratitis capitata):

  •              Tasmania
AND
Exporters sourcing fruit from the Riverland must present a State government certificate at the time of inspection which states all fruit was sourced from properties outside the suspension areas.

Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


It is the exporter’s responsibility to ensure that the phytosanitary certificate is issued within 14 days of the consignment being exported from Australia.

Refer to the departure date and inspection date in the Request for Permit.
Fruit sourced from outside PFAs must be either treated against fruit flies by in-transit or onshore cold treatment at one of the following rates:

Cold treatment

Prior to air freight, the fruit sourced from other growing areas must be cold treated onshore against fruit flies at one of the following rates:
 
  • 0 degrees Celsius, or below, for 13 days;

OR

  • 0.56 degrees Celsius, or below, for 14 days;

OR

  • 1.11 degrees Celsius, or below, for 18 days;

OR

  • 1.67 degrees Celsius, or below, for 20 days;

OR

  • 2.2 degrees Celsius, or below, for 22 days.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 3499)
1) Spotted-wing drosophila (Drosophilla suzukii), Oriental fruit fly (Bactrocera dorsalis), Mexican fruit fly (Anastrepha ludens & Anastrepha fratercules) and West Indian fruit fly (Anastrepha mombinpraeoptans) are known not to occur in Australia,
2) The produce comes from the Riverland that is recognised as a pest free area of Queensland fruit fly (Bactrocera tryoni),
3) A representative sample was inspected and found free of San Jose scale (Quadraspidiotus perniciosus).

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 3500)
1) Spotted-wing drosophila (Drosophilla suzukii), Oriental fruit fly (Bactrocera dorsalis), Mexican fruit fly (Anastrepha ludens & Anastrepha fratercules) and West Indian fruit fly (Anastrepha mombinpraeoptans) are known not to occur in Australia,
2) The produce comes from Tasmania that is recognised as a pest free area of Queensland fruit fly (Bactrocera tryoni),
3) A representative sample was inspected and found free of San Jose scale (Quadraspidiotus perniciosus).

Option 3 (EXDOC Endorsement 3501)
1) Spotted-wing drosophila (Drosophilla suzukii), Oriental fruit fly (Bactrocera dorsalis), Mexican fruit fly (Anastrepha ludens & Anastrepha fratercules) and West Indian fruit fly (Anastrepha mombinpraeoptans) are known not to occur in Australia,
2) The produce has been subjected to cold treatment prior to air freight,
3) A representative sample was inspected and found free of San Jose Scale (Quadraspidiotus perniciosus).
