An import permit issued by the Department of Agriculture, Sabah, Malaysia, may be required for export to East Malaysia. If so, a phytosanitary certificate may be issued if required by the import permit, and a copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
If required by the import permit, the consignment must be marked in accordance with the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) standards.
If the consignment is to be exported under an import permit issued by the Department of Agriculture, Sabah, Malaysia, and the import permit requires pre-shipment treatment, the consignment must be:
- Fumigated with methyl bromide at 48grm/m3 for 24 hours at 21 degrees Celsius or above at Normal Atmospheric Pressure;
OR
- Heat treated at 56 degrees Celsius for 30 continuous minutes.
