Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


The import permit number must be included on the phytosanitary certificate.

It is the exporter’s responsibility to ensure that the phytosanitary certificate is issued within 14 days of the consignment being exported from Australia.

Refer to the departure date and inspection date in the Request for Permit.

Explanation of the endorsements

Endorsement 6483:
Visual inspection on a representative sample by an Authorised Officer is sufficient as supporting evidence for this Endorsement.

If specified on the import permit, the seeds must be subjected to one of the following fumigation treatments prior to export:


  • Methyl bromide at 32 grm/m3 for 24 hours at 21 degrees Celsius or above;

OR

  • Phosphine at 2grm/m3 for 120 hours.


The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Note:

 

  • The target of methyl bromide fumigation must not be wrapped in or coated with materials that are impervious to methyl bromide.
  • Methyl bromide fumigation must not be carried out at 10 degrees Celsius or below.

1) The consignment was found free through official inspection and testing procedures of seeds of other crops and weed seeds.
