Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


It is the exporter’s responsibility to ensure that the phytosanitary certificate is issued within 14 days of the consignment being exported from Australia.

Refer to the departure date and inspection date in the Request for Permit.


Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

The import permit number is to be included in the import permit section of the Phytosanitary certificate.

The following applies for consignments destined for SABAH, MALAYSIA only:

  • Mangoes must originate from production areas free from Mango Seed Weevil (Sternochetus mangiferae) under endorsement 5997
  • Irradiation treatment is not required for mangoes originated from production areas free from Mango Seed Weevil (Sternochetus mangiferae)
Prior to export mangoes must be treated with irradiation at a minimum dosage of 300 Gray.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Details of treatment to be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate in the treatment section.


The certificate of irradiation serial number must be included in the treatment section of the phytosanitary certificate and stated as:

Certificate of Irradiation Serial Number xxxx

Exporters are responsible for:
  • Providing the dose-mapping report with the first consignment and the minimum and maximum dosage for the following consignments;
  • Ensuring that the 'Go-No-Go' indicator is placed on every box containing irradiated mangoes;
  • Ensuring each box/carton containing irradiated mangoes is labelled;
  • Providing the certificate of registration of the irradiation premise which has been issued by Department of Agriculture;
  • Providing a Certificate of Irradiation for each consignment of irradiated mangoes in the format approved by Malaysia.
