Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

It is the exporter’s responsibility to ensure that the phytosanitary certificate is issued within 14 days of the consignment being exported from Australia.

Refer to the departure date and inspection date in the Request for Permit.

Explanation of the endorsements

Endorsement 535:

Is onlyto be endorsed if stated by import permit. Visual inspection of arepresentative sample by the inspecting Authorised Officer is sufficient toendorse freedom.
If stated by importpermit consignments are to be fumigated prior to export with either:

  • Methyl bromide at 48 grm/m3 for 24 hours at or above 21 degrees Celsius;

OR

  • Phosphine at 5 grm/m3 for 72 hours.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

1) A representative sample was found free through laboratory testing of Ragweed parthenium (Parthenium hysterophorus) and Itch grass (Rottboellia cochinchinensis).
