Explanation of the endorsements
Endorsement 8432:
Solanum lycopersicum seed originating from any of the listed countries must not be exported to Korea unless the consignment complies with the additional requirements.
Endorsement 8432:
For seeds shipped on or after 15 November 2024, PCR testing is required to endorse freedom from Tomato brown rugose fruit virus (ToBRFV) that was grown in and/or has been packed in and/or exported from South Australia.
- For consignments of less than 46,000 seeds, a sample of 10% of the total consignment must be used for PCR testing for ToBRFV.
- For consignments of 46,000 seeds or more, a sample of more than 4,600 seeds, made up of sub-samples of less than 400 seeds each, must be used for PCR testing for ToBRFV.
PCR testing must also be used to endorse freedom from PSTVd (Potato spindle tuber viroid).
A laboratory analysis certificate attesting to PCR testing, and the sizes of samples and subsamples (if applicable) used for testing, must be presented to the Authorised Officer at time of inspection.
Endorsement 2882:
- Applies for seeds which were not grown in or were packed in or are being exported from South Australia, or which are being shipped before 15 November 2024.
- A manufacturer's declaration attesting to the location where the seeds were grown, as well as the location of the packing facility where seeds are being inspected and packed, must be presented to the Authorised Officer at time of inspection. The declaration must include traceability numbers, such as seed line numbers, which can be linked to the inspection record.
- It is the exporter's responsibility to ensure the products are not exported from a port in South Australia on or after 15 November 2024.
- An area freedom certificate is required to endorse freedom from PSTVd (Potato spindle tuber viroid).
Endorsement 7957:
- Applies for seeds which were not grown in or were packed in or are being exported from South Australia, or which are being shipped before 15 November 2024.
- A manufacturer's declaration attesting to the location where the seeds were grown, as well as the location of the packing facility where seeds are being inspected and packed, must be presented to the Authorised Officer at time of inspection. The declaration must include traceability numbers, such as seed line numbers, which can be linked to the inspection record.
- It is the exporter's responsibility to ensure the products are not exported from a port in South Australia on or after 15 November 2024.
- A laboratory analysis certificate endorsing a PCR testing method is required to endorse freedom from PSTVd (Potato spindle tuber viroid).
Additional requirements related to Tomato brown rugose fruit virus (ToBRFV) for seeds not of Australian origin
APQA will implement additional requirements for Solanum lycopersicum seed for sowing originating from the following ToBRFV distributed regions:
- Asia (11): China (Shandong, Yunnan, Ningxia Hui, Shaanxi, Beijing, Liaoning), India (Karnataka, Maharashtra), Iran, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Türkiye, Uzbekistan
- Europe (27): Albania, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, United Kingdom (England)
- The Americas (5): Argentina, Canada, Mexico, Peru, United States (States of Florida)
- Africa (1): Morocco
If the seeds in your consignment are sourced from any of the listed countries, you must present one of the following to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection and attach these documents to the consignment:
- Original or certified copy of the phytosanitary certificate issued by the country of origin stating “The Solanum lycopersicum seeds have been sourced from a ‘pest free area’ (or ‘pest free place of production’) free from ToBRFV, established and managed according to ISPM 4 (or ISPM 10)”; or
- Original or certified copy of the phytosanitary certificate issued by the country of origin stating “The seeds were tested by PCR before export and found free from ToBRFV (Tomato brown rugose fruit virus)”; or
- Original or certified copy of the phytosanitary certificate issued by the country of origin with nil additional declaration AND a separate PCR Inspection Certificate.

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 2882)
1) The consignment is sourced from pest free area, places or production sites of PSTVd (Potato spindle tuber viroid) by establishing and maintaining the pest free status in accordance with ISPM No. 4 or ISPM No. 10.
Option 3 (EXDOC Endorsement 7957)
1) A representative sample was tested by PCR before export and found free from PSTVd (Potato spindle tuber viroid).
