Korea's Special Act on Imported Food Safety Management requires all foreign food establishments that produce, manufacture, process, treat and/or store food or plant products, including fresh fruit and vegetables for human consumption, intended for export to Korea to complete a web-based (http://impfood.mfds.go.kr/) registration process.
A foreign food facility as described in the Special Act on Imported Food Safety Management for fresh fruits and vegetables includes growers, packaging and treatment facilities (registered export establishments), etc.
This is a protocol market, work plans and protocols are available through Micor Plants in the Documents section. Access is restricted and requires a logon.
Growers/orchards, packhouses and treatment facilities must be accredited for Korea. Only fruit sourced, packed and/or treated from an accredited property will be certified.

Korea recognises Tasmania as being free from both Queensland fruit fly (Bactrocera tryoni) and Mediterranean fruit fly (Ceratitis capitata).

Australian cherries sourced from Western Australia are prohibited for export to the Republic of Korea.
Sampling rates
All cherries for export to Korea are subject to a 600 unit sample inspection.
All fruit in the consignment must be free of contaminants such as leaves, twigs and soil and must be packed in such a way to prevent re-infestation during storage and transportation.
Each carton or pallet must be marked with the registration number of the accredited farm and packhouse and labelled with the words "FOR KOREA". All packages must also be sealed with the specified tape or stickers. Refer to the relevant work plan for further detail.

The orchard block number must be entered in the 'Lot Number' field with multiple blocks separated by a semi-colon (to be entered as ORCHARD NO: XXXXXX-XX; XXXXXX-XX).

Fumigation rate compensation is not permitted for this market.
Treatment details (including date, fumigant, dosage, temperature and duration) must be provided in the treatment section of the phytosanitary certificate.
The name and number of the registered establishment where the fumigation treatment was conducted must be entered in the "Additional product description" field of the EXDOC request for permit (RFP) and be in the example format of:

2) This is to further certify that sweet cherry fruits from Tasmania covered by this certificate are free of Queensland fruit fly (Bactrocera tryoni), and they have been grown and packed in designated export areas for Korea excluding regulated areas.
