A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


Consignments are to free from husk or cleaned of excess huck to the last layer of husk covering the kernels

Consignments are to be commerically packed in clean, new proliferated bags.

The consignment may be kept in ambient cold storage till the due date for export

All consignments are to be inspected for insects and plant pathogenic organisms and if detected the consignment must undergo treatment either by:

- fumigation with Methyl bromide at 32 grm/m3 for 2 hours;

OR

- cold storage at 0 to 10 degrees celcius for 16 days

Details of treatment must be endorsed on the Phytosanitary certificate in the treatment section
