Consignments are to be packed in clean, new packages/bags not previously used for any purpose.


A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

  • Xanthomonas stewartii is a synonym of Pantoea stewartii
  • Sclerospora sacchari is a synonym of Peronosclerospora sacchari
Explanation of the endorsements:

Endorsement 4633:
  • Downy mildew of millet (Sclerospora graminicola), Stewart's wilt (Pantoea stewartii), Sugarcane downy mildew (Peronosclerospora sacchari) and Maize chlorotic mottle virus are known not to occur in Australia. No evidence is required to endorse freedom from these pests.
  • A crop inspection certificate is required to endorse freedom from Sugarcane mosaic virus, Common smut of maize (Ustilago maydis), Head smut of maize (Sphacelotheca reiliana) and Black bundle disease (Cephalosporium acremonium).
Endorsement 6830:
 
  • Downy mildew of millet (Sclerospora graminicola), Stewart's wilt (Pantoea stewartii), Sugarcane downy mildew (Peronosclerospora sacchari) and Maize chlorotic mottle virus are known not to occur in Australia. No evidence is required to endorse freedom from these pests.
  • A laboratory testing certificate is required to endorse freedom from Sugarcane mosaic virus, Common smut of maize (Ustilago maydis) and Head smut of maize (Sphacelotheca reiliana).
Consignments are to be treated with an appropriate fungicide treatment at recommended manufacturers requirements.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 4633)
1) Downy mildew of millet (Sclerospora graminicola), Stewart's wilt (Pantoea stewartii), Sugarcane downy mildew (Peronosclerospora sacchari) and Maize chlorotic mottle virus are not known to occur in Australia,
2) The crop was inspected during active growth and found free from Sugarcane mosaic virus, Common smut of maize (Ustilago maydis) Head smut of maize (Sphacelotheca reiliana) and Black bundle disease (Cephalosporium acremonium).

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 6830)
1) Downy mildew of millet (Sclerospora graminicola), Stewart's wilt (Pantoea stewartii), Sugarcane downy mildew (Peronosclerospora sacchari) and Maize chlorotic mottle virus are not known to occur in Australia,
2) A representative sample has been found free through laboratory testing for Sugarcane mosaic virus, Common smut of maize (Ustilago maydis) and Head smut of maize (Sphacelotheca reiliana).
