Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds, chaff and/or leaf mould and extraneous material.

A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Packaging
The following material must not be used as packaging: Banana leaves, maize straw, rice straw, sorghum straw, palm straw, wheat straw or leaf mould.

Explanation of the endorsements

Endorsement 1221:

Consignments are to be treated with an appropriate insecticde at recommended manufacturers' requirements.
If any other plant residue is used as packaging material, the consignment must be accompanied by a certificate stating:
  • All seed, pathogens and insects have been killed before use of the material either by heating to 180 degrees F / 83 degrees C for 10 minutes or by chemical treatment.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 2693)
1) The parent plants were inspected during active growth and found free from evidence of injurious pests including nematodes and viruses,
2) San Jose scale (Quadraspidiotus perniciocus) is known not to occur in the area of production,
3) The plants are grown in soil-less medium.
 
Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 1221)
1) The parent plants were inspected during active growth and found free from evidence of injurious pests including nematodes and viruses,
2) All insects have been killed by an appropriate treatment before dispatch,
3) The plants are grown in soil-less medium.
