Consignments are to be packed in clean, new packages/bags not previously used for any purpose.

Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Explanation of the endorsements

Endorsement 6778:
  • Urocystis magica (and its synonym Tuburcinia magica) is not known to occur in Australia. No evidence is required to endorse freedom from this pest.
  • A crop inspection certificate must be presented for certifying freedom from Onion smut (Urocystis cepulae, synonyms Urocystis colchici var. cepulae and Tuburcinia cepulae).
Endorsement 6779:
  • Urocystis magica (and its synonym Tuburcinia magica) is not known to occur in Australia. No evidence is required to endorse freedom from this pest.
  • A laboratory test analysis certificate must be presented for certifying freedom from Onion smut (Urocystis cepulae, synonyms Urocystis colchici var. cepulae and Tuburcinia cepulae).
Note: Tuburcinia cepulae is currently not listed in the Endorsements below because the import permit sighted by the Grain and Seed Export Program clearly stated Tuburcinia cepulae is a synonym of Urocystis cepulae. Please contact the Grain and Seed Export Program if your import permit does not list Tuburcinia cepulae as a synonym of Urocystis cepulae or if you have obtained official advice from KEPHIS that the scientific name Tuburcinia cepulae must be listed in the additional declaration on the phytosanitary certificate. 

When specified on the import permit, consignments are to be treated with an appropriate fungicide/insecticide at recommended manufacturer's requirements.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 6778)
1) Urocystis magica and Tuburcinia magica are not known to occur in Australia.
2) Parent plants were inspected during active growth and found to be free of Onion smut (Urocystis cepulae and Urocystis colchici var. cepulae).

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 6779)
1) Urocystis magica and Tuburcinia magica are not known to occur in Australia.
2) A representative sample was found free through laboratory testing of Onion smut (Urocystis cepulae and Urocystis colchici var. cepulae).
