Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

Consignments are to be packed in clean, new packages/bags not previously used for any purpose.

Consignements must be clearly labelled with the correct botanical name (genus and species).

Plants must be free from quarantine diseases and free of Crown gall disease.

Original and certified translation of the import permit must be presented to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

For evergreen:

  • Seedlings and plants of evergreen species must be planted or preserved in peat moss, perlite or compost media only.
  • They are not permitted to be imported in natural soil or non-manufactured organic fertiliser, or both, and must be highly vital, not dry, and free of agricultural pests.

For deciduous: 

  • Seedlings and ornamental plants of deciduous species, without a turban, their roots must be clean and free of natural soil. 
  • Plants and seedlings must be bare rooted.

The consignment must be treated with a systemic insecticide at the manufacturer's recommended rate.
