ICR applies to processed sandalwood products including:
- Shavings
- Powder
- Dried roots
- Disks
A phytosanitary certificate is required if the product contains timber in the round (i.e. sandalwood disks which are cross-sections of a tree trunk), or the end use is for fertiliser, stockfeed or other input in agricultural production.
Processed timber is not a prescribed good for the purposes of the Export Control Act 2020, therefore consignments of above listed processed sandalwood
products which do not contain any timber in the round and which will not be used as fertiliser, stockfeed or input in agricultural production may be exported to Japan without an Authorised Officer inspection and the issuance of an export permit and a phytosanitary certificate.
Sandalwood powder, shavings and disks without any bark (except disks comprised of timber in the round) are not subject to on-arrival inspection. Dried sandalwood roots, shavings and disks with any bark attached, including the inner bark (phloem), are subject to on-arrival inspection.
