The work plan and protocol are available through Micor Plants in the 'Documents' section. Access is restricted and requires a logon. Also refer to the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry standard for vapour heat treatment (VHT) of fruit fly host commodities. The VHT Standard is available in the 'Resources' section of the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Plant Export Operations Manual, available on the department's website.
All varieties of mango are permitted to be exported to Japan.
In the case of sea freight, the container and seal number must be entered under "Containers" and "Seal" fields of the EXDOC Request For Permit (RFP) and be in the example format of: ABC1234/DEF5678.
All fruit is to be heat treated against fruit flies using Vapour Heat Treatment (VHT).
The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the required treatment and to present evidence to the Authorised Officer at time of inspection.

Vapour Heat Treatment Variety Specifications
Kensington, Keitt, Kent, R2E2 and Palmer
- vapour heat treatment total treatment time of 75 minutes or longer (include a minimum of 15 minutes of critical kill time with fruits core temperature 47 °C or above) at a minimum of 90% relative humidity with an air temperature held at 48 °C or above.
All other mangoes
- vapour heat treatment total treatment time of 105 minutes or longer (include a minimum of 15 minutes of critical kill time with fruits core temperature 47 °C or above) at a minimum of 90% relative humidity with an air temperature held at 48 °C or above.
Note that the air temperature must be held at or above 48 °C and the relative humidity at or above 90% for the total treatment time for all varieties, including both the hold time and 15 minute critical kill time.
For vapour heat treated product, treatment is to be shown on the phytosanitary certificate as:
V HEAT TREATMENT START DATE TREATMENT END DATE FOR XX MINUTES AT XX DEGREES CELSIUS TREATMENT FACILITY NAME AND NUMBER XXXX
