It is recommended that exporters present detailed information on the manufacturing process (e.g. hulling, heat treatment, extrusion, flaking, cooking, etc) to the Japanese NPPO prior to export and confirm the specific import requirements which apply to their product.
The exporter is to obtain prior approval from MAFF to apply treatment to rice flour containing rice hulls. If complete freedom from rice hulls cannot be achieved and if authorised by MAFF, the exporter may apply an approved treatment.
Details of treatment to be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate in the treatment section.
The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.
