Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

Seeds not being re-exported from Japan

A phytosanitary certificate with No Additional Declarations will be issued. 

Seed intended for re-export from Japan

Australian seed being exported that will be re-exported from Japan may require phytosanitary certificate with Additional Declarations. Requests by exporters for additional endorsements of seed for sowing being exported to Japan may be complied with where it is known that the seed shall be re-exported to another destination through a re-export phytosanitary certificate. All requests for re-export endorsements are to be emailed to MicorPlants@aff.gov.au for action. Each endorsement in this Micor case is only valid for 12 months. If exporters want the endorsement extended beyond the current validity date, they need to contact GSEP at grain.export@aff.gov.au to request such an extension.

Explanation of the endorsements

  • Endorsements listed in the Additional Declaration section below are only for consignments that will be re-exported from Japan. For any consignments in which the seed is intended to be re-exported from Japan, the exporter is to advise the Authorised Officer at the time of making an appointment for inspection.
  • Potato nematode (Ditylenchus destructor) is not known to occur in Australia. No evidence is required to endorse freedom from this pest.
  • Where the Endorsement states "The crop was inspected during active growth and found to be free of [pest name/s]", a crop inspection certificate is required for endorsing freedom from the listed pests.

Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 8067) – valid to 6 May 2027
Additional Official Phytosanitary Information: 
1) Potato nematode (Ditylenchus destructor) is not known to occur in Australia, 
2) The crop was inspected during active growth and found to be free of Aceria Tulpae, Alternaria spp, Colletotrichum circince clerotina spp, Stem and bulb nematode (Ditylenchus dipsaci), Fusarium wilt (Fusarium oxysporum), Globodera spp, Heterodera spp, Onion yellow dwarf virus, Pratylenchus coffeae, New Zealand black wart (Synchytrium endobioticum), Onion smut (Urocystis cepulae) and Sclerotina spp.

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 8375) - valid to 24 March 2027
Additional Official Phytosanitary Information:
1) Potato nematode (Ditylenchus destructor) is not known to occur in Australia,
2) The crop was inspected during active growth and found to be free of Purple blotch (Alternaria porri), Spring dwarf nematode (Aphelenchoides fragariae), Rot (Burkholderia gladioli pv. alliicola), Anthracnose (Colletotrichum circinans), Stem and bulb nematode (Ditylenchus dipsaci), Bacterial stalk rot (Erwinia chrysanthemi), Needle nematode (Longidorus spp), Root rot nematode (Meloidogyne goeldi), Nematode (Micoletzkya spp), Stubby-root nematode (Paratrichodorus spp), Nematode (Pratylenchus spp), Allium white rot (Sclerotium cepivorum), Onion smut (Urocystis cepulae) and Nematode (Trichodorus spp).

Option 3 (EXDOC Endorsement 8415) - valid to 12 May 2027
Additional Official Phytosanitary Information:
1) Potato nematode (Ditylenchus destructor) is not known to occur in Australia,
2) The crop was inspected during active growth and found to be free of Onion smut (Urocystis cepulae).

Option 4 (EXDOC Endorsement 7833) – valid to 1 July 2027
1) Black rot (Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. allii) is not known to occur in Australia. No supporting evidence is required to endorse freedom from this pest.
2) The crop was inspected during active growth and found to be free of Stem and bulb nematode (Ditylenchus dipsaci) and Allium white rot (Sclerotium cepivorum).
Written submissions from the exporters on 26 May 2021, 25 March 2022, 4 April 2023, 11 April 2023, 13 February 2024, 8 March 2024, 16 April 2024, 7 June 2024, 28 February 2025, 19 and 31 March 2025, 6 and 23 March 2026, and 28 April 2026 for additional declarations for re-export of seeds from Japan.
