Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Upon arrival seeds will tested in an official lab in Israel for Sorghum midge (Stenodiplosis sorghicola), Rough leaf spot of sorghum (Ascochyta sorghi), Sorghum ergot (Claviceps africana), Northern corn leaf spot (Cochliobolus carbonum), Southern leaf blight of corn (Cochliobolus heterostrophus)Anthracnose Leaf Blight (Colletotrichum graminicola), Sorghum anthracnose (Colletotrichum sublineolum), Zonate leaf spot (Gloeocercospora sorghi)Covered kernel smut (Sporisorium sorghi), Cercosporiosis (Cercospora sorghi) and Bacterial blight (Burkholderia andropogonis).


Explanation of the endorsements

Endorsement 2169:

  • An area freedom certificate is required as supporting evidence that the consignment is free from Southern leaf blight of corn (Helminthosporium maydis), Root rot of sorghum (Periconia circinata), Sorghum midge (Contarinia sorghicola) and Corn smut (Spacelotheca sorghi).
  • The seed must be treated against Southern leaf blight of corn (Helminthosporium maydis), Root rot of sorghum (Periconia circinata), Sorghum midge (Contarinia sorghicola) and Corn smut (Spacelotheca sorghi) as described in the treatment section below. 
Endorsement 2170:
  • An area freedom certificate is required as supporting evidence that the consignment is free from Southern leaf blight of corn (Helminthosporium maydis), Root rot of sorghum (Periconia circinata), Sorghum midge (Contarinia sorghicola) and Corn smut (Spacelotheca sorghi).

Endorsement 7552:

  • Freedom from Witchweed (Striga spp) must be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate. A crop inspection report is required.

Endorsement 7553:
  • Freedom from Witchweed (Striga spp) must be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate. An area of production statement from the respective state department is requried.

Endorsement 7554:
  • Freedom from Witchweed (Striga spp) must be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate. A laboratory analysis certificate is required.
The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

For Endorsement 7552, 7553 and 7554, Phosphine fumigation is required (prior to shipment):

  • 7 days at 2grm /m3 at 15 degrees Celsius or above
Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 2169)
1) Southern leaf blight of corn (Helminthosporium maydis), Root rot of sorghum (Periconia circinata), Sorghum midge (Contarinia sorghicola) and Corn smut (Spacelotheca sorghi) are known not to occur in the area of production,
2) The seed has been treated against Southern leaf blight of corn (Helminthosporium maydis), Root rot of sorghum (Periconia circinata), Sorghum midge (Contarinia sorghicola) and Corn smut (Spacelotheca sorghi) as described in the treatment section below.

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 2170)
1) Southern leaf blight of corn (Helminthosporium maydis), Root rot of sorghum (Periconia circinata), Sorghum midge (Contarinia sorghicola) and Corn smut (Spacelotheca sorghi) are known not to occur in the area of production.

Option 3 (EXDOC Endorsement 7552)
1) The seed was inspected during active growth and found to be free of Witchweed (Striga spp).

Option 4 (EXDOC Endorsement 7553)
1) The area of production is free of Witchweed (Striga spp).

Option 5 (EXDOC Endorsement 7554)
1) A representative sample is found free through laboratory testing of Witchweed (Striga spp).
