Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


Original and certified translation of the import permit must be presented to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


It is the exporter's responsibility to ensure that the consignment departs no more than 21 days after the phytosanitary certificate is issued. If the phytosanitary certificate is issued after consignment's departure, the departure date must be within 21 days from phytosanitary inspection.

Visual inspection of a representative sample undertaken by an Authorised Officer may be used to endorse freedom from Ryegrass stem weevil (Listronotus bonariensis).

Freedom from Alfalfa dwarf (Xylella fastidioda) may be endorsed without citing evidence as it is not on the seed export pathway for Paspalum notatum seed.

Explanation of endorsements

Endorsement 5407:

Is applicable to seed of Australian origin.

Endorsement 5408:

Is applicable to seed of USA origin re-exported from Australia.

Endorsements are only to be made on the phytosanitary certificate when specified on the import permit.
Consignments are to be fumigated with phosphine at recommended manufacturers requirements when specified on the import permit.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 5407)
1) A representative sample was inspected and found to be free of Ryegrass stem weevil (Listronotus bonariensis).

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 5408)
1) The consignment was found free through official testing and inspection procedures of Ryegrass stem weevil (Listronotus bonariensis) and Alfalfa dwarf (Xylella fastidioda).
