Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Explanation of the endorsements:

Endorsement 6640
  • Dwarf bunt (Tilletia controversa) is not known to occur in Australia. No evidence is required for endorsing freedom from this pest.
  • Visual inspection by an Authorised Officer is sufficient for endorsing freedom from Granary weevil (Sitophilus granarius) and Rye ergot (Claviceps purpurpea).
  • A laboratory analysis certificate is required to endorse freedom from Basal wheat glume rot (Pseudomonas atrofaciens).  
  • All consignments must be free from India's quarantine weed seeds as per Schedule VIII of PQ Order 2003. Exporter must provide a laboratory analysis certificate attesting to the endorsement and to present to the Authorised Officer at time of inspection.
  • In Addition, visual inspection by the Authorised Officer must be undertaken as per instructional material for endorsing freedom from the following quarantine weed seeds.
  • Visual inspection by an Authorised Officer is sufficient to endorse freedom from soil (as per normal tolerances).

Endorsement 1884

Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Non-GMO requirements:

India requires the goods are not genetically modified. The exporter is responsible for ensuring the consignment is accompanied by a Certificate as to Condition (Grain - GX46/Horticulture - HX46). The Office of the Gene Technology Regulator (OGTR) has confirmed there are no approvals for commercial production of genetically modified cultivars of this product in Australia.

The following text must be added to the additional declaration field when a GX46/HX46 template is added to the RFP:

The Office of the Gene Technology Regulator has advised the department that there has been no intentional release into the Australian environment of genetically modified product(s) listed on this certificate.

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 6640)
1) Dwarf bunt (Tilletia controversa) is known not to occur in Australia,
2) A representative sample was inspected and found free of Granary weevil (Sitophilus granarius) and Rye ergot (Claviceps purpurpea),
3) A representative sample was found free through laboratory testing of Basal wheat glume rot (Pseudomonas atrofaciens).
4) The consignment is free from quarantine weed seeds as per schedule VIII of PQ Order 2003,
5) A representative sample was inspected and found free of soil.

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 1884)
1) Dwarf bunt (Tilletia controversa) is known not to occur in Australia,
2) A representative sample was inspected and found free of Granary weevil (Sitophilus granarius) and Rye ergot (Claviceps purpurpea),
3) The consignment is free from quarantine weed seeds as per schedule VIII of PQ Order 2003,
4) The consignment is free from soil.
