Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Visual inspection by the Authorised Officer and excavation below 2 metres from the surface or autoclave treatment undertaken may be taken as evidence for freedom from nematodes, microbes, quarantine weed seeds and soil.

Explanation of the endorsements

Endorsement 3317:


Exporter must present the evidence of heat treatment or excavation below 2 metres from the surface to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection. Exporter's Declarations for excavation below 2 metres from the surface is acceptable.

Endorsement 6082:

Steam Heat Treatment (Autoclaving) at 121 degree Celsius for 30 minutes at 15 psi (104 kPa) when Peat is not excavated from 2 meter beneath the surface.
The consignment was steam heat treated (autoclaved) at 121 degree Celsius for 30 minutes at 15 psi (104 kPa).

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 3317)
1) The Peat was excavated from beneath 2 metres from the surface,
2) The consignment is free of insect pests, nematodes, microbes, quarantine weed seeds and soil.

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 6082)
1) The consignment is free of insect pests, nematodes, microbes, quarantine weed seeds and soil.
