Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


Authorised Officer visual inspection of a representative sample with a nil tolerance is required for endorsing freedom from Mediterranean flour moth, Apricot chalcid, Tobacco moth and Indian meal moth.

All consignments must be free from India's Quarantine weed seeds as per schedule VIII of PQ order 2003. This statement is for information only and no additional supporting documentation is required other than the Export Compliance Record.
Consignments are to be treated with Methyl bromide at 16 grm/m3 at 21 degrees Celsius (or above) for 24 hours or above at NAP as per PQ Order 2003;

OR

The Indian NPPO accepts the following dosage compensation from for methyl bromide fumigation applied at temperatures between 11 and 21 degrees Celsius:

  • 24 grm/m3 at 16-20 degrees Celsius for 24 hours at NAP;

OR

  • 32 grm/m3 at 11-15 degrees Celsius for 24 hours at NAP;
OR
  • 40 grm/m3 at 10 degrees Celsius for 24 hours at NAP.
Note: 
  • Dosage compensation is not permitted for temperatures above 21 degrees Celsius.
  • The department's minor use permit for methyl bromide does not allow for methyl bromide fumigation to be completed at rates lower than the prescribed APVMA label rate. In cases where India's required fumigation rate is lower than the APVMA label rate, the APVMA label rate must be met. When this occurs, fumigation rates must be endorsed as "[India's prescribed rate] OR HIGHER".
    • For example, a consignment being treated at 21 degrees Celsius must be fumigated at the APVMA label rate of 24-32 grams per cubic metre instead of at India's prescribed 16 grams per cubic metre and the treatment must be endorsed as "WITH METHYL BROMIDE AT 16 GRM/M3 OR HIGHER FOR 24 HOURS AT 21 DEGREES CELSIUS"
The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

1) The consignment is free from Mediterranean flour moth (Ephestia kuehniella), Apricot chalcid, Tobacco moth (Ephestia elutella) and Indian meal moth (Plodia interpunctella).
