Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.

A copy of the import permit must be presented to an Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

Seed must be packed in commercial hermetically sealed packages or containers.


These import requirements are not applicable to the following Sorghum spp seed as these species are prohibited into French Polynesia:

  • Sorghum arundinaceum
  • Sorghum halepense
  • Sorghum 'hybrid cv. Silk'
  • Sorghum almum

Explanation of the endorsements

Endorsement 6481:

No evidence is required to endorse freedom from Maize chlorotic mottle virus, Maize dwarf mosaic virus, Downy mildew of millet (Sclerospora graminicola) and Sorghum downy mildew (Peronosclerospora sorghi) as these pests are not known to occur in Australia.

Crop inspection during growing season is required to endorse freedom from Root and top rot (Gibberella fujikuroi).

No fungicidal treatment is required.

Endorsement 6482:

No evidence is required to endorse freedom from Maize chlorotic mottle virus, Maize dwarf mosaic virus, Downy mildew of millet (Sclerospora graminicola) and Sorghum downy mildew (Peronosclerospora sorghi) as these pests are not known to occur in Australia.

Seeds to be treated with one of the fungicide combinations as specified on the Import permit and outlined in the treatment sections below MICoR.

Where applicable, the exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the endorsement and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

 

Consignments not certified free from Root & top rot (Gibberella fujikuroi) are to be treated with one of the following fungicide combinations, either:
  • Carboxin at 0.8grm a.i. per kg seed and thiram at 1grm a.i. per kg seed;
 OR
  • Carboxin at 0.8grm a.i. per kg seed and captan at 0.7grm a.i. per kg seed;
OR
  • Imazalil at 80mg a.i. per kg seed and triadimenol at 220mg a.i. per kg seed;
OR
  • Imazalil at 80mg a.i. per kg seed and flutriafol at 80mg a.i. per kg seed.

 

Details of treatment to be endorsed on the phytosanitary certificate in the treatment section.

 

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.

 

Option 1 (EXDOC Endorsement 6481)
1) Maize chlorotic mottle virus, Maize dwarf mosaic virus, Downy mildew of millet (Sclerospora graminicola) and Sorghum downy mildew (Peronosclerospora sorghi) are not known to occur in Australia,
2) Crop was inspected during active growth and found to be free of Root & top rot (Gibberella fujikuroi).

Option 2 (EXDOC Endorsement 6482)
1) Maize chlorotic mottle virus, Maize dwarf mosaic virus, Downy mildew of millet (Sclerospora graminicola) and Sorghum downy mildew (Peronosclerospora sorghi) are not known to occur in Australia.
