Consignments are to be free from pests, soil, weed seeds and extraneous material.


Original and certified translation of the import permit must be presented to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Consignments must be packed in commercial hermetically sealed packages or containers.

Explanation of the endorsements

Endorsement 7309:
  • This Endorsement may be used in lieu of fungicide treatment if permitted by the import permit.
  • A breeder's note attesting to the resistance/tolerance of the seed variety to Downy mildew of lettuce (Bremia lactucae) must be provided as evidence that the seed variety is recognised as being resistant to this pathogen.
If required by the import permit, the consignment must be treated with an appropriate fungicide at Australian label rates.

The exporter is to provide evidence attesting to the treatment and present it to the Authorised Officer at the time of inspection.


Fungicide treatment is not required if the import permit allows an endorsement stating the imported variety is resistant or highly tolerant to Downy mildew of lettuce (Bremia lactucae) in lieu of seed treatment. Refer to the explanation of the endorsements in the General Requirements section for further details.
